Hey guys.. just wondering if you could help me make ice on my level. I'm re-skinning/ remodeling AR-Champions for Christmas and would like to get it done before then. Id love to know how to add ice to parts of my level. Thanks you, Hail INI

In my experience, you just have to use an ice texture.

First you try to show me up by incorrectly explaining things any idiot that has read a BASIC ROOM tutorial knows. DONT CONFUSE HIM!!! its as simple as 1 2 3... 1 select the texture you wish to use 2 click the ground 3 rebuild geometry just for fun and now u have ice!!! This does nothing but select the surface. Switch step 1 and 2 and you actually texture it. --- I said MAYBE hes not talking about ice but snow... he could have gotten em confused , so yeah really Now you're implying that he might be even more of an idiot and not know the difference between ice and snow? It's crystal clear what he meant. Are you trying to help him, or insult him? It can't be the former, because you apparently don't know what you're talking about, nor did you explain how to do what he "might" have meant. Did I miss anything, Smoke?

On the other hand what he might be asking here is...
Haow do you make the ice so it acts like ice... slippery maybe?
If this is what you are asking about you have to zone off the area that you want slick. After you have added the sheets or cube to create the zone shape and placement, you need to add the ZoneInfo inside of the zoned area.
Open the Classes list in the Browser Go to the Info\ZoneInfo and click on it (right click inside the zone area) Add ZoneInfo here
(right click) choose ZoneInfo Properties
Go to: ZoneInfo\ZoneGroundFriction This is defaulted to 8... change it to 1, 2, or 3. <---lower the number the more slip it creates.

I knew I forgot something. After working in Hammer I am used to textures having built in effects. It took me a good 15 minutes to remember how to change the texture panning speed in a skybox, too.
