I've been scouring Lep's handy wealth of admin knowledge lately, and I ran across a lil somethin that went sorta like this:

"If you could map an animation to the crouch button you could feign yer death. I don't know how to go about doing that, tho..."

WELL GUESS WHAT!!!!!!


-neither do I.

HOWEVER, I have found a really nifty way to do the same thing, and it does not involve crouching in any way. I printed out a couple of animation tweaking instructions and some animations. I then proceded to apply a death animation to the a_defend for a weapon, and erased the a_defendidle for that weapon.
Now, when trusty old ragnar goes to block, he whimps out and hits the deck, fooling even the most unfortunate schmuck. However, upon closer inspection one will notice that the "dead" player's head still looks at you and his weapons and equipment are still in hand.
Only one problem. You have to be an admin on a server for these tweaks to take effect. GAHH!!!!. Anyone know a way around that?

P.S.- using the "DeathKnockBack" animation for the blocking technique previously discussed, you can have some great limbo parties! ;D Remember, Ragnar still moves and walks while he is blocking

A No-no!!! what the crap man! I am just being experimentive. Besides, it's for the general benefiet of mankind...


Well yeah whatever. I understand your viewpoint. I hate folks who crook ya, but if you think about it, faking yer death isn't THAT bad. We could be trying to go invisible with a giant dwarf battle axe without being an admin . besides, lying on the ground is a pretty acceptable way to play. It's their own fault if they don't watch out for ambushers.

But all that is beside my point. I really don't think discovering how to hide from your persuers will cause a plague of greif and angst among the 50 or so rune players around.

Anyways I hear Neo's opinion. Anyone else got any Ideas? I notied that the "set" command can be used for many things, which can have no effect to the other players unless you add "admin" before it, which also requires you to be an admin. However, some commands like "set input" donot require admin access. If we can control our keyboard, cant we control our players? there's gotta be some way to change the animations without being logged in as admin.

well, ya see there is a way to change em, but without being admin, it'll only look like it to you, so if ur using your trick, it'll look like a perfect hiding spot out in the open, but to anyone who comes along, it will appear to them as if your just standing there like a goof.

but there is a way to get their pass, ask nicely (helps if u know em too) ;D

Well I figured that.. about only being able to see it yerself. If you mean to sugest just using "set" without admin, i tried it already, and nothing happens. he still uses the server animation preset. But o well. I'm also very experienced at the way you mentioned of obtainiing administrationship. I've also heard of a way to hack into the server and get the admin code somehow, but I'm not in to that sort of thing. Ah well I guess my quest for the Fake yer Death is about over.

At least I thought it was a cool idea
