[Networking Port Settings]
In order to host a game server for others to enjoy on the internet, there must be some port changes to the firewall of your router/gateway. Many router/gateways are very similar in interface, therfore these setting locations might vary a bit per model.
First you must log into the router/gateway to adjust these settings. To log into the router/gateway you must open your internet seach tool (IE: Internet Explorer/Netscape/etc...). After you have opened the Internet Explorer/ other search programs, highlite the address at the top (in the address bar)
(IE: http://www.ini-honor-trophies.com)... Highlite the address and type in your router/gateway IP Address and hit 'Go'.
Some of the home style gateways are as follos in "default":
D-Link : http://192.168.0.1
LinkSys: http://192.168.1.1
NetGear: http://192.168.0.1
This will take you to an admin login screen. To protect those that use default settings on their router/gateway I will not host the 'Default' usernames and passwords.
After you log into the router/gateway it is time to set up the ports.
Most have a section "Advanced" Click on "Advanced"
Then there is genrally a section called "VirtualServer" Click on "VirtualServer"
You should now see a list of input fields asking for 'ports'&'IP Address'along with 'protocol type'
OPEN THESE 'PORTS/PROTOCOL' AND USE THE 'IP ADDRESS OF THE HOSTING COMPUTER'!
PORT: 80/TCP: Default "Web Admin" port.
PORT: 7776/UDP:
PORT: 7777/UDP:
PORT: 7778 and 7780/UDP:
PORT: 7779 and 7781/UDP:
PORT: 8777/UDP:
PORT: 27500/UDP:
PORT: 27900/UDP:
PORT: 28900/TCP:
Save the settings and you should be good to go!
p.s.
After you go and host a server you might only see the server being hosted as 'LAN', though others will see it as 'Populated'. Give a chance for people to join running all defaults with no ServerPackages to dowload, and if nobody comes in, double check you router settings again.
