I been trying to get my server working for years.....I know I have asked this 1000 times before and i'm sorry but it just either randomly stops working or I need to reformatt...
So I don't know why my server isn't showing up to other people....I see it in lan but no one else sees it.
I opened the ports, and that shouldn't matter cuz I don't use a firewall when i'm trying it and I also use the DNZ thingy.
I made sure all the ini settings from the tutorials are correct...
There is one thing I'm thinking it may be and would explain why it suddenly stopps working then suddenly starts again out of nowhere.....
Could it be that Bell is blocking the server ports on their end? I heard some companies do this if you download too much one month or becuase they are just plain evil money grubbing whores.
To the best of my knowledge I don't think I ever "fixed" the issue but I have gotten it working just by chance many times. But I always come back to sqare 1.
So I was thinking....can I change the "beacon port" to somthing other than what my ISP would block? If so, what range should I open to do that? I'm super ignorant when it comes to this stuff. I don't consider myself very intelligent when it comes to servers. Which is why i'm coming to the masters (well primarily dell..the master
So please be thourough with a response.
I would really appriciate any input. Don't be shy no matter how minicule the idea is. I need to try everything because i'm so sick of this i'm going to kill the computer. Dead.
Yes I have adversitzed the server, opened ports, turned off firewalls. I don't actually have a router - I have a siemens speedstream 6520 wireless modem from Bell Sympatico.
I don't use the wireless modem on my PC right now for the connection, I use an ethernet cable. But my xbox 360 I use wireless option. I used to use wireless on both but I turned it off because I felt I was losing some speed. I don't know if I was or not...but it kinda felt like it. I had this same problem with and without.
I have searched the net far and wide for answers and the closest answers I got were people with the same problem and then their problem magically fixed itselflike mine.
